Japan - Retreat into nature

SHIN-DO-FU-JI

Join Li Ling for a highly exclusive 5 days 4 nights of yoga and farmstay experience in Ryujinmura, the Dragon God Village of Wakayama, Japan. It’s probably not a place that you will chance upon in your numerous travels to Japan and that’s what’s going to make it so special and memorable.

You will be staying in ancient houses (up to 120 years old) that have been lovingly refurbished with local natural materials, comfy beds and modern amenities. The days will involve moving your body, enjoying nearby pristine rivers and taking in the blessings that abundant nature provides. What you will be consuming are locally grown seasonal produce, homegrown tea and heirloom variety of rice, eggs from their front yard chickens, herbs and berries foraged from the forest, and log-grown shiitake mushrooms.

Soak in the rare experience of a private outdoor goemonburo—deep cast-iron caldrons heated directly by wood fire—few places in Japan still offer this. The water is from Ryujin Onsen, one of the top three beauty springs in the country—clear, scentless and smooth.

Everyone will be sharing a common kitchen, indoors bathroom, outdoors bath with onsen water, and toilet. There will be 2 houses (10 minutes walk apart) and each house can take 4 persons. Participant will be assigned a house.

Only 7 beds are available so please indicate your interest early in the link below. First come first serve. All are welcome, yogis and non-yogis.

Li Ling is a teacher at and owner of Kate Porter Yoga and is passionate about sharing yoga that is accessible to everyone. She is on her own journey as well whereby her own yoga practice is more about going inwards, about honouring where her physical body is at right now, and one where her headspace is transitioning between stability and inconsistency. She is working through her transitions with more emphasis on breathwork and meditation and has been injecting more of these in class. More on her here.
