My recent Yoga retreat by KPY in October 2024 was something really much needed rest, the beautiful scenery and yoga sessions were so restorative. Made some new friends. Lake Toba at Taman Simalem is so rustic and makes us enjoy being in their beautiful setting.

I have been practising at KPY for many years now, the teachers there still continue to inspire and push me deeper into my practice. I love the anatomy knowledge that Germin teaches in her Beginner classes, the support Li Ling (also the current owner) gives in her Chair & Wall classes, and the thought-provoking weekly quotes that Sherwin dishes out at the end of his Yin & Yang classes. Mobility classes by Jane has greatly improved my other classes and daily life, Christina’s Gentle Flow classes always feel good and San’s Vinyasa II classes are a great workout! My favourite part is that the studio is non-aircon, which is such a rare find these days, to be able practise in natural surroundings and air flow. If you are looking for an unpretentious studio with friendly fellow yogis, KPY will definitely make you feel welcomed, as they strongly follow their mantra of "Yoga for every body".

I have been a regular for a number of years now and wouldn't go anywhere else. The intimate and friendIy classes mean that everyone is welcome no matter your shape, size or experience. I buy the annual pass which means I just go ahead and book each week, even if I am away, I can join online or follow the recording later. My yoga classes are part of my weekly routine that I can't live without.

This is a review of the Taman Simalem Lake Toba yoga retreat organised by KPY in October 2024. It was probably the best yoga retreat I’ve ever attended! The setting was gorgeous and restful, and the yoga session were restorative. Our group of 11 was led by Li Ling and Hazel who were both clearly very experienced teachers. They were kind and attentive, ensuring that yoga sessions were accessible to everyone taking into account our varied ages, physical limitations, injuries and abilities. I should mention that I had never practiced yoga at KPY prior to the retreat. Apart from the 2 yoga sessions each day, we were treated to a jungle hike, tour of the resort and coffee plantation as well as a cacao ceremony. There was plenty of free time and every activity was optional so there was no pressure to take part in everything. The retreat lasted 5 days and I thought it was well paced. The family-run resort was lovely. The friendly, hospitable atmosphere made the whole experience a little more special. I has never practiced yoga with KPY before the retreat but I’ve since signed up! Thank you for a great retreat.
