Meditation Monthly
What it's about

Meditation is included in most of our yoga classes. But from time to time, we run special classes and courses specifically on this fascinating skill. At KPY, we primarily focus on mindfulness meditation. This is an exercise of pure observation endeavouring to see things as they are, uncoloured by previous experience, preconceptions or conditioning.

Nothing at KPY involves religion or spiritualism and you do not need to change your religious beliefs to practise yoga or meditation. Yoga and meditation do not make the bad things in your life go away, nor do they prevent trying times, however through the discipline of your body, breath and mind, one learns to come to terms with the path of life, and attain the wisdom on how to move forward. It is rather like being on a ship at sea; you cannot change whether the sea is calm or rough, but you can change how you react to and deal with the reality. Join us for our next meditation class.

If you are not a member of KPY and wish to join, simply check out our class schedule and book in for the next Meditation class. Look out for the Yin and Meditation class on the 3rd Saturday of every month at East Coast.

Sherwin
About The Teacher

Sherwin and other teachers

Sherwin‘s yoga experience is grounded in Sivananda since he earned his teacher’s status more than 15 years ago and he had evolved to specialise in Yin Yoga under the tutelage of various masters like Paul & Suzee Grilley, Sarah Powers, Victor Chng and Jo Phee.

Inspired by world renowned spiritual yoga master and humanitarian His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar (Founder of the Art of Living Foundation and a unique breathing technique called the Sudarshan Kriya), Sherwin’s main interest and focus in every yoga session is ‘breath’. An array of breathing techniques is taught and cleverly yet subtly weaved into every posture (be it Yin or Yang) to achieve a sense of overall well-being, alignment, balance and peace of mind.

Sherwin has the intuitive ability to tailor and simplify classes to suit every participant’s needs and requirements yet maintaining some level of challenge in the light of anatomy and mindfulness hence allowing them to finish every session feeling light yet grounded, adapting to the every changing flow of life yet centred, satisfied and rejuvenated.
