Kate Porter Yoga organises a Kids Yoga class every month at our East Coast and River Valley studios, usually on a Saturday afternoon. Kids Yoga is a good way to cultivate awareness, patience and increase confidence in your child.
Children have fun while stretching, breathing and creating shapes with their bodies. Vast research has shown that children exposed to yoga at an early age can help them to better cope with stress and anxiety later in life. It also gives them a good foundation to build on for better self awareness and compassion in an activity that is non-competitive, thereby cultivating an appreciation for the non-material in life.
Yoga teachers need additional training and special qualification to teach yoga to children and Sophie Spoor and Mingli are our regular ‘Fun Ladies‘ for this class. Both of them have young ones of their own and yoga is a regular feature in their arsenal of tools to engage their children.
We recommended children between between 4 and 8 years old to join this fun class but are open to accepting children of other ages as long as it is not disruptive to the session. Classes are limited to 10 so as to ensure that all children are looked after properly.
During the school holiday months, we conduct special Parent-Child yoga sessions where parents and their children can bond and have fun while doing yoga. Photos of previous sessions can be found here.
From time to time, we also conduct Mums and Bubs classes. If you have a group of mums and are looking for a place to host a Mums and Bubs session, please speak with us. Photos of previous sessions can be found here.
